NCVPS STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN GLOBAL COLLABORATION G20 PROJECTS

Raleigh: Some students taking online AP Government with the North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) met with Luke Swiderski on the evening of March 26 for a G20 conference presentation. Luke Swiderski is one of 20 Global Changemakers from around the world who will represent young people from the United States at the G20 conference next week in London. Mr. Swiderski is a student at Georgetown University spending his junior year at Oxford in England.

NCVPS students in Jimmie Quesinberry and Jennifer Godwin’s AP Government classes spent an hour in the presentation via Wimba Live Classroom and were given the opportunity to explore the current economic crisis and ask questions about possible solutions. This presentation was a forerunner for a continuing intercontinental G20 dialogue between students of NCVPS and students in East Riding, Yorkshire, England. This collaboration is being facilitated by the British Council in Washington, D.C. as part of a continuing collaboration with NCVPS that was spawned during a visit earlier this year through the Teachers International Professional Development program.

Tom Sears, NCVPS Latin Instructor and liaison for this project says: "Along with our successful partnership with Puerto Rico this year, this new collaboration will be the start of many global partnerships for our students to develop a world view of 21st century ideas."
